Interpretation of fundamental rights in Europe

The conference titled ‘Interpretation of fundamental rights in Europe’ is organised as part of Central European Professors’ Network 2021.

The Professors’ Network, with the active participation of experts from seven different countries (i.e. Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia), organises events with the primary aim to draw attention of the European citizens to the topics which are important and significant in connection with the future of Europe, in particular of Central Europe.

The issue of fundamental rights is crucial for Europe in the 21st century, in particular in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the event the main issue will be the application of fundamental rights in constitutional courts of seven European countries (Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia), the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR);

At the conference, outstanding experts will make presentations in their research fields, e.g. Piotr Mostowik (Poland); Zoltán Tóth J. and Adél Köblös (Hungary), Katarína Šmigová (Slovakia); Benjamin Flander (Slovenia); Slobodan Orlović (Serbia); Bojan Tubić (Croatia); David Sehnálek (Czech Republic). Each speaker will provide the research on their own country, which will be discussed thereafter within the framework of a debate.

The main organisers of the event are the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law, the Hungarian Association for Comparative Law and the Central European Association for Comparative Law.
