“Development of the Justice System. Law, economy and technology for preventing the causes of crime ” International Scientific Conference

On December 5, 2019, an international scientific conference “Development of the Justice System. Law, economy and technology for preventing the causes of crime ” took place under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro. The event was organized by the Institute of Justice and the College of Criminology and Penitentiary Studies in Warsaw.

The conference was preceded by the opening session with the participation of Doctor Marcin Romanowski – Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Justice, Doctor Marcin Wielki – Director of the Institute of Justice, Doctor Engineer Tomasz Kisielewicz and Mr. Bartłomiej Oręziak. They presented, inter alia, selected research results in the field of crime prevention based on a project by the Institute of Justice with the participation of specialists from Harvard Business School, Stanford Research Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, China Europe International Business School and IESE Business School.

The main part of the conference included four plenary sessions and a special poster session. The subject matter was discussed in an international and interdisciplinary environment. Papers were delivered, among others, by Doctor Enrico Delahaye (Supreme Court of Cassation, Italy), Doctor Nina Champion (Criminal Justice Alliance, Great Britain), Doctor Amanda Elisabeth Perry (University of York, United Kingdom), Professor Hank Nuwer (State University of New York, USA), Professor Roberto Setola (Università Campus Bio-Medico, Italy), Professor Payman Dehghanian (George Washington University, USA), Professor Marco Maccioni (Sapienza University of Rome, Italy), Doctor Dewmie Ubeysiri (Sri Jayawardenapura General Hospital, Sri Lanka). As part of the plenary sessions, the national perspective was also presented. The following speakers took the floor Doctor Katarzyna Rozpara-Witkowska (University of Warsaw), Professor Helena Kisilowska, Doctor Grzegorz Zieliński (Kazimierz Pułaski University of Technology in Radom), Doctor Grzegorz Skrobatowicz (John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin) and Professor Krzysztof Wojcieszek (University of Criminology and Penitentiary Studies in Warsaw).

The conference and the presentation of the results of research carried out from domestic and foreign centers enabled the exchange of knowledge and good practices. The lively discussion during the session proved the relevance and importance of the issues raised from the point of view of the development of the judiciary, law, economy and technology for the prevention of the causes of crime.
